Shake Ride and Roll is back with 120 participants plus 10 support staff last Saturday. Riders came from all over the Kentucky and nearby states in a clear sign that bicyclists are back on the road for major events. Many thanks to co-chairs Laura and Sally and to all who participated or who joined in supporting the ride. A more comprehensive report is on Fb.

Shake. Ride, and Roll – in 91 degree heat (99 degree wet bulb) – reminded us of the importance of proper hydration. Check out “Hydration Tips for Cyclists,” courtesy of Bicycling Magazine, in our Bike Talk page. The article emphasizes not only drinking enough water but also replacing electrolytes. Many of us use Nunn tablets (fizzies) but tasteless liquids are becoming more and more popular. I use one which gives me magnesium, zinc, chloride, sodium, and potassium. If anyone has a local source, please share it by responding to this blog; but several brands are readily available on Amazon, including small containers that you can carry to use when refilling water bottles at a SAG Stop.
